If a child has been raped and becomes pregnant; if a woman in her last trimester has an ultrasound and the fetus is diagnosed as profoundly abnormal and if carried to term the infant will suffer terribly before an early death, if a woman is destitute and can't afford to feed or care for the children she currently has....and the state doesnt provide food assistance, day care, standard education, housing, medical care....there are many reasons (and they are none of our business) why a woman would choose to terminate a pregnancy. Being in favor of murder has nothing to do with it. Pro-life should mean pro-women and children...not some sordid mission to punish women.
Alabama is 50th in the amount it spends for public education....dead last; Alabama didnt opt to expand medicaid to assist working families who cant afford medical care. Alabama doesnt show any regard for living children....the anti abortion bill has nothing to do with being Pro-Life. It is mean spirited attempt to punish women. How many of the white men who voted for it....owe their successful lives to a 16 year old girl who chose to have an abortion rather than saddle him with child support forcing him to drop out of high school. If the truth be known....most families have members who either had an abortion or who convinced someone else to abort the pregnancy they caused. That doesnt make them bad people.....but it makes them hypocrites if they vote to force other women to risk their lives through an illegal abortion. The law won't stop abortions.....it will stop safe abortions.
Kill a perfectly healthy baby because you can’t feed it? Makes total sense in the most generous country in the world that spends billions (probably trillions) on illegal immigrants - offering them tax funded resources; housing, food, education, etc.

1) As horrible as rape is (and I still maintain that rapists should get the death penalty), any resulting child is still innocent and blameless. Thus anyone who claims to be pro-life who is being intellectually honest with himself or herself would support the Alabama bill.
2) There's always adoption. No one forces a woman who gives birth to care for the child.
3) The fact that more can and should be done for those already here isn't a valid justification in my book for snuffing out the lives of the unborn.
4) The notion that men should have no say in legislation regulating abortion is sexist and makes a mockery of representative democracy. Just like taxpayers without children still pay property taxes to fund education and may serve on school boards, every voter via their elected representatives has a voice on this and other issues as well.
It is not like Austin was doing any business in Alabama in the first place.
The known Marxist City Council is PO'd they may not be able to let Planned Parenthood have a city owned building(large), rent free.
Georgia is always getting boycotted, or threats of being boycotted, by various entities including movie stars who apparently are in favor of the murder of innocent unborn babies.
So does an illegal abortion help the baby more so than a legal abortion?
Boycotts and threats of them work. For the past several years no other state had more proposed anti-gay laws than Oklahoma. But hardly any passed. Why? Because the Chamber of Commerce lobby feared boycotts and loss of conventions. Oklahoma is already a highly undesirable state to come to without allowing yet more reason not to come.
I doubt any of you were young enough to remember what it was like pre Roe vs. Wade. Contrary to what many of you may think, abortions still happened before RvW. My grandfather was a family practitioner, a very religious Catholic person as well, and you know that Catholics are very pro-life. However, in the course of being a doctor, a lot of women would come stumbling in, bleeding profusely from under their legs. They had gone to a "back alley doctor" who had used coat hangers to scrape out the baby. Of course the baby was always dead, but my grandpa said that 90% of the women would die as well. So when RvW passed, he said it was the "lesser of two evils". Even though he was Catholic and pro-life, he knew that you'd actually save more lives with safe abortions than with unsafe ones, which is what was happening.
This is what it would go back to. You can ban something, but if someone wants to do it, there will be an underground market, and it will not be in a sterile clean abortion clinic. It will be on the back streets performed by a nefarious "doctor" with no training and who's just out to make some easy money.
So, you pro-lifers, is this what you want it to go back to? This is what pre RvW was like and this is what it would return to. Just like weed, alcohol, just because you ban it, doesn't mean it goes away, it just goes underground. And if you think an abortion doctor educated at Stanford is bad, wait until you meet a back street abortion doctor run by the Mexican mafia. I imagine they'll be setting up shop in your state soon.
