We don't know that either.
Most all could have died as the result of a butter knife defense policy.

Yep...the second sentence of the OP reveals the thread's intent.

Oh, but we do know.

17-4 guns to knives.

"For St. Joseph County, 22 of those crimes are homicides -- 17 shootings, four stabbings, one blunt force trauma."

This sentence right here sums up a big part of the murder issue

Quote:
“I recognize that people get angry, I just wish that people would settle their differences in a much less violent way,” said Cotter.
Neither the mayor nor the governor can solve the severe anger issues some men have.

Now we do b/c you posted it.
I was going to call Sherlock Holmes but now its not necessary.
However that is the county total and only 12 were in S.B.

South Bend clearly has a crime problem when the crime index rates it:

Safer than 3% of U.S. Cities.

97 % of cities do better.

17 homicides are a tidal wave? Ridiculously small numbers to draw any conclusions.

I hear that South Bend also had the poorest record for mail delivery, blame the mayor.

The OP should really look at crime stats for South Bend, for say, the last 20 years, and then come back. They always fluctuate, usually with 2-3 years with higher murder rates, followed by a year or two of lower rates. This has nothing to do with Mayor Pete.

If it's the mayor's fault for murders, why are all solid red states poor?

So, what's the make up of the gangs? Are they Conservative Republicans?

They aren't likely Republicans. They likely don't vote at all. My point is that putting a city in Republican rule isn't going to stop violence and gang problems. It doesn't really matter what political party is in charge.
