ANTI-ABORTION DEMOCRATS IN CONGRESS SHOULD FACE ‘STRONG PRIMARY CHALLENGES,’ PROGRESSIVE LEADER SAYS

Amid the national outcry that erupted this week from Alabama passing a near-total ban on abortions that prohibits the medical procedure unless the woman’s life is at risk—even in the case of rape and incest—a top progressive in Congress said her anti-abortion colleagues should know their seats could be on the chopping block.

...
Jayapal issued a warning Friday to any Democratic colleagues who were not pro-abortion rights, saying they could see money and support disappear and instead pour into the campaigns of their primary challengers in the 2020 election cycle.

...
Although a dying breed in a party that has shifted further to the ideological left in recent elections, anti-abortion Democrats do still exist in Congress. They include Representatives Dan Lipinski of Illinois, Collin Peterson of Minnesota and Henry Cuellar of Texas. In the Senate, Democrats Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Bob Casey of Pennsylvania are included in their ranks.

I support this 100%

If they want to be Republican-lite, make them retire or go and join the Republican party.

It is a position in the Republican platform.

They should go home where they belong.

Good. If they cannot uphold the platform of the Democrat Party, get the hell out.....run as an Independent or Republican.

Better, yet, they can just switch sides and give us the majority back in the House.

Great thinking! I am with you on this.

Many black Christians who vote Democrat may take issue with this. Are they out as well?

Pushback...

Pro-life Dems push back against progressive purge of party: ‘No, enough!’

But Kristen Day, the executive director of Democrats for Life of America, is not too pleased with the stance.

Appearing on Fox & Friends Monday, Day said Jayapal was “completely wrong and trying to redefine what it means to be a Democrat.”

“Democrats have, historically, tried to protect the underdog, those who need assistance, the vulnerable,” she explained. “And again, we hear this over and over again, but who is more vulnerable than an infant in the womb? That baby is so worthy of protection and protection of the Democratic Party, and she’s absolutely wrong on that front.”

...
“The time is now for pro-life Democrats to start standing up and saying, ‘No, enough.'”

According to Day, there are 21 million pro-life Democrats in the U.S., and she said “a lot of them are afraid to speak up” — which speaks volumes about the intolerance of hard-left progressives and how they bully those who disagree with them.
