Based on the video clip in the link, her brief explanation of an REO isn’t correct. It isn’t REO until after the property is foreclosed and actually becomes bank-owned property. She said, “That’s what happens when a property goes to foreclosure.” No, Congresswoman, that’s not what happens.
But, yeah, let’s make jokes about a brain surgeon not knowing an acronym.
He has a cabinet level position, is he somehow excused from knowing his job because he was a "brain surgeon"?
You are splitting hairs, most people who have been on this RE forum for a while and read them or have looked into purchasing a home may be familiar with REO properties. It's not an insider thing. and him not knowing how to do a particular job is not the same as not knowing basic terms that pertain to HUD. That's not a detail it's something basic that he should know. You can defend him but he stepped up his bafoonery by sending the Congresswoman a package of Oreos and actually posing with them and taking a picture.
. The legitimate lending parameters were minimal components of the crash.
The bundling of weak loans with good paper and selling/buying of concealed bad paper and the realization that fraud was perpetuated in the bundles were what dang near brought us all down.
I don't care about the politics of the last 20 years as much as noting that there is credit and blame aplenty, for all to share.
indeed. plenty of blame to go around.
financial markets/Wall Street guys and gals were at the front of the line, and caused the most damage.
Of course, as someone recently, we digress from the OP's completely non-partisan topic.
He's not qualified and has no interest in learning even the most basic of terms, Just like the rest of the current cabinet positions they are all wrong and the worst that can be chosen for their appointments. He should want to be familiar with basic terms, instead he makes himself look like a fool.
You've never been an executive have you? To get so deep into the weeds would be asinine for that executive level post. It's leadership 101. Can't lead if you get stuck in the weeds. Too busy to do your actual job: Manage!

So people expect Congress Members to be an expert on everything, including every cabinet position, but they think it's fine for the HUD secretary not to know a basic housing related term. Does Ben Carson care, no because he has no shame and no class like the rest of the Administration starting from the top.

This thread should be moved to "Politics and other Controversies" since it was obviously just started as a vehicle to bash Donald Trump and his cabinet, and has zip to do with real estate.
