Almost every liberal who I spoken to opposes tariffs against China. How it is killing the stock market and gonna drive up prices everywhere. But yet unanimously condemns Chinese IP theft. At the heart of the newly imposed tariffs was to have Chinese government condemn and stop Chinese IP thefts.

If the liberals refuse to impose tariffs or sanctions then do nothing?

I think the left wants no new tariffs or any at all. They're ok with some IP thefts as long as it keeps prices low and competition high.

If you worked at any large company, American bosses are quick to give foreign workers access to all of their company IP and resources in order to replace American workers. How is that any different than companies like Apple showing the Chinese firms how to build their designs and enables them to design their own copies.

How do tariffs address the problem at all? Trump has decimated multiple markets for American consumer and agricultural goods with no indication of Chinese cooperation on IP. Is there any indication that China has let up their theft of IP?

According to the left, when Obama put tariffs on Chinese crap, this was good. When Trump put tariffs on Chinese crap, this was bad. The only conclusion one can draw is liberals stand for nothing at all, they just oppose everything Trump does because "orange man bad".

LMAO, the Obama tariffs were a disaster! Luckily he got wise later in his term and supported the TPP.

Both the Conservatives and liberals opposes TPP. It would open the flood gate for cheap labor and resources. China would benefit even more.

The USPS is a good example, all postal service participate on this goodwill that they will deliver foreign mail and packages from the postal service of another country for free. Since Chinese government runs their mail service they subsidize the cost of shipping so that any item shipped is cheaper than a pack of cig here. While a package in the US cost more than a pack of cigarette here because USP is indirectly tax payer funded.

This is an example how TPP like rules doesn't benefit every country unless there's some parity of government subsidies on services.

TPP would make send goods between the countries virtually tariff free and every industry in the US would be impacted even worse off.

For those that have knowledge on Chinese IP, how does that work seeing as China has long had a communist stance to it?

Like many things that tend to be cast as black/white only in politics, sometimes tariffs have a valid purpose. But they should be implemented after detailed analysis of numbers and data, and a careful eye towards their long term knock on effects - not pulled out of the Presidents a$$ that morning because he woke up on the wrong side of the bed.

You can usually tell "a$$pulled" numbers by their "roundness" - 5% here 25% there. Nice even easy to understand numbers. If they had actually been calculated to have a careful balancing effect they would not be even numbers they would be adjusted and different for each commodity they are applied to.

But that would take effort, research, and dedication - things sorely lacking in the current executive branch.
