Somehow, the Republican Party is like an animal that eats it's own young. It drives away people who would make good natural Republicans, people who share many of the same values and live them out on a daily basis.

It might have something to do with the success of Nixon's and Reagan's southern strategy in the 60's - 70's and 80's. It reeks of xenophobia and people pick up on that.

Some factors

1. Decline in anti-Communism as a motivating force

2. Generational change (younger folks aren't tied to the emigre political concerns such as anti-Communism)

3. Xenophobic sentiment from the GOP

Just more of your leftist, liberal nonsense. There is no more xenophobia among Republicans than there is among the Democrats. Any by the way, it's not xenophobic to want legal immigration to be in reasonable numbers and object to illegal immigration.

I'm sorry you lack the critical thinking skills to differentiate unless you're trolling.
yes, I have actually posted this many times. The US percentage of foreign-born in Reagan's time was in the vicinity of 5-6 percent. Now it about 14 percent. The issue of immigration then was entirely different from what it is now. To try to superimpose is indeed a case of trolling, or perhaps just sheer stupidity.

Same thing that is a factor in the Cuban-American vote in Florida.

Yes. That is pretty characteristic of the politics of many in the Vietnamese American community in Orange County - they're like Asian versions of Cuban Americans.

Heard that yesterday. Remember or maybe you already knew this: there is a huge Hispanic population in Orange co that wasn't there 20 or 30 years ago. There have always been pockets of Mexicans but not like now.
