Just more of your leftist, liberal nonsense. There is no more xenophobia among Republicans than there is among the Democrats. Any by the way, it's not xenophobic to want legal immigration to be in reasonable numbers and object to illegal immigration.
Say all you want, but the marginalization of the CA GOP today is in part because Governor Wilson got all scared about his reelection 25 years ago and made a deal with the devil, code named fearmongering and hysteria, otherwise known as Prop 187. He won and so did 187 (later to be overturned in court), but the damage was done to the Calfornia GOP.
They've gone to the well time and time again because of sentiments like yours, but all it did was reduce their political clout in the state to what it is now.

Heard that yesterday. Remember or maybe you already knew this: there is a huge Hispanic population in Orange co that wasn't there 20 or 30 years ago. There have always been pockets of Mexicans but not like now.
Also, Orange County at one time was home to a large number of defense plants with mostly conservative enployees. Back in the ‘60’s the conservative vote from Southern Cal more than balanced the liberal vote from the Bay Area. At the end of the Cold War, many of the defense plants closed down and that added to demographic change helped push California blue.

Prior to Pete Wilson, a decent percentage of California Latinos voted Republican. After Pete and Prop 187, Latino Republicans were few and far between. Doubling down on an angry white voting bloc worked for Pete Wilson and the GOP in the very short term, but as those older white voters moved or dies off, it killed the party as a viable statewide organization.
We’ll have to wait to see whether in the long term Donald Trump managed to do to the Republican Party nationally what Pete Wilson did to the Party in California.
Yes. That is pretty characteristic of the politics of many in the Vietnamese American community in Orange County - they're like Asian versions of Cuban Americans.
It also depends on where you go. California is going to be a different political arena from Texas or Louisiana, where there are also sizable Vietnamese populations.
