I saw the robbery on video, I don't think he was armed, where are you seeing this?

He wasnt, it was a strong arm robbery, Brown was twice the size of the diminutive store owner.

I didn't pay that much attention to the story back when it happened but I do remember thinking how they covered it and in retrospect looking back they made it sound like this kid was some little innocent alter boy on the way home from volunteering at the local homeless shelter and the big bad meanie cops chased him down and shot him willy nilly for no reason.
