Felonies involving rape, sex crimes against children, murder, burglary, robbery, or assault with a deadly weapon (to name a few) should never be expunged. Non-violent felonies, sure, I'm fine with that.
I didnt design or help create the US system of justice, Im just stating that one of the founding principles is the 'second chance', the ability for one to pay off their debt to society', LOTS of people fought so the system of justice would be like this in America and NOT like other countries.
If some people do not like the American system of justice, Im not sure what to tell them, thats how it was designed to be here, we celebrate and honor the men who wrote and designed all these things!
problem I see is that this term is overly long and will inevitably be shortened to J.I.P. Can't have that, too close to 'gyp' as in 'I got gypped.' This has long ago been declared as politically incorrect, racist, and unacceptable.
I think they should call felons "council persons" from now on.
What would you call people at the DEA...who use US laws to benefit foreign drug cartels, and ensure the US remains such a profitable marketplace for them?! Or when prescription opioid drugs encroach into heroin sales territory, the DEA and other narco-LE aggressively target pharma companies, doctors, pill mills, etc, to shut them down...paving the way for cartel supplied heroin!!

Your points about the violent felonies make sense. However, the exception to them getting expunged is if a person was wrongfully convicted of any of those crimes!
Are these people not smart enough to realize that 'justice involved person' will be synonymous with 'felon' almost immediately and therefore be the same 'scarlet letter'? Where the hell has common sense gone?
ps. Having too much fun with this , but honestly, it's mostly because I have experience: early nineties when similar language rape occurred in my neck of woods. With a difference that here it was right-wingers who initiated and supervised it. So it was a Frankenstein mix of zombified phrases from the 'glorious past' and pathetic attempts to turn rapidly evolving IT language into Croatian. Half of the nation tried to follow it, another half satirized the heck out of it. Thank heavens, it's history now.
