We are now at the point where nearly HALF of all Americans pay no federal income tax while at the same time liberals are throwing around the idea of more programs - Medicaid-for-all, reparations, free college, student loan forgiveness, house downpayments for black families, etc. etc.

All this isn't free.

To help offset this and avoid an even greater burden on the tax-paying half, I suggest that an AMT be applied to all individuals over the age of 18, as follows:

Income under $15,000: $120 ($10/month)
Income between $15,000 - $25,000: $500
Income between $25,000 - $50,000: $1,000

Everyone needs some skin in the game, including the net "takers."

95% of Congress are bought and paid for by corporate elites.

Notice how the GOP brags about less people now having to pay income tax after their tax reform which almost every Republican supported. The reason is simple. Universal taxes and universal programs are far more difficult for the big donors to get rid of because its more difficult to create mass public opposition against it when everyone benefits some and everyone pays into it and has skin in the game. The "takers" and "makers" is effective in creating division and tension along class and ethnic lines. There's no way the elites will want to end that.

I would rather see state and federal gov. get a grasp on their spending instead of adding and increasing taxes. They also need to clamp down on abuse of the welfare systems that far to many are on today.

How can we have a blanket minimum tax when everyone makes different amounts?

You are correct OP, the dems are promising all kinds of Free stuff as they pander to any and every voter that will listen but someone has to pay for all these wonderful perks.

They are creating a country of slackers and deadbeats. It is getting to the point where it is stupid to work for many and why should they when the state is handing them everything they need?

A friend from Brattleboro VT, Bernie country reported that her town is going downhill. The dreadlocked hippie Bernie bros have taken to panhandling. They sit in fold up chairs all along main street and ask for spare change and at the end of the day they go home to state funded housing. Who knows what they will do come the cold Winter..? They will probably head to Florida to their vacation homes.

So rather than scale back, abolish or refuse to implement, the answer to immoral unworkable schemes is to come up with creative ways to fund them?
Good ole republican patriotism

No. There should be no such thing as "income tax."

Yes all should be taxed even to the minimum and those having children especially. All illegals should be brought into the light and their employers forced to withhold proper federal and taxes from their wages. Nothing should be under the table including service workers.

The homeless should also be made to provide labor for local service projects for their contribution to society as well.

The homeless part was a nice touch. I like old fashion slave labor in a political platform too.

FWIW, many people DO pay taxes but then get it back in their tax returns. Essentially they are giving an interest free loan to the federal government, so it is disingenuous to say they aren’t paying anything.
