The last Republican President to run a surplus was Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1957.

The last Democratic President to run a surplus was Bill Clinton in 2001. Lyndon B. Johnson also had a surplus in 1969.

Clinton's surpluses were largely the result of a tax increase on the upper income, combined with spending restraints and a booming economy. Right now that seems to be the only successful political model we have of how to address the deficit.

Can we all admit that no one in Washington cares.

Don't worry, all these supposed fiscal congressmen will crawl out of their sewers and slither in front of a camera to preach deficits and debt when they are no longer in the majority. And someone will start another Tea Party group that will get taken over by the big money again.

The talking heads supporting 15 billion dollar farm bailouts will want to cut Social Security to pay for all the spending going on now.

Same old tired song.

Looks like 2020s will be the decade where the facade of debt-laden prosperity begins to crumble economically. I wonder who buys all this debt? Does the federal reserve put it on it's balance sheet? Where is all the demand for treasuries going to come from?
China, of course, with the 13 Trillion+ dollars of trade surplus they've enjoyed over the last decade.

And where is the Tea Party? We were right when we said the Tea Party was about bigotry and not deficits.

======================
and 2 t by 2028...do you know why..... medicare/Medicaid

in 2016 medicare was 691 billion

what is even more interesting is what the predicted outlays will be in the future
in 2016 medicare was 691 billion
prediction for 2020....963 billion
prediction for 2026....1.383 Trillion

lets now add in Medicaid
Medicaid:
2000.....117 billion
2008.....201 billion
2016.....368 billion

actual Medicaid 2016.....368 billion
prediction for 2020....450 billion
prediction for 2026....616 Billion

so the prediction is medicare and Medicaid is expected to be over 2 trillion dollars is less than 8 years
that's just the GOVERNMENT costs of Medicare and Medicaid... and medicare/Medicaid covers less than 1/6 of our population..

the Democratic candidates; nearly everyone of them is talking about increasing spending by multiple trillions per year
universal income will cost 3+ trillion yearly
M4A will cost 4+ trillion yearly
student loan forgiveness/free tuition will cost 2 trillion the first year and 3/4 trillion yearly after that
free daycare....will cost 1.2trillion+ yeaarly

our problem...no matter who is in charge...is spending.....WashingtonDC you have a spending problem

You had a republican Congress from January 2017 until November 2018. Were they asleep at the wheel...?

Most of which are RINOs.

I don't give the GOP a cent because most of them are for big government and big spending.

Sure, they're not as bad as the DNC, but not good enough to get a piece of copper from me.
