Do you really want all of us loners to join a militia and start sharing ideas? We might become "well regulated".
Let the FBI & ATF catch wind, you and your neighbors are out in the hood, training in tactical domestic warfare.
Yes, Militia , especially "Well regulated" is forbidden.
Its just awfully convenient of the pro-physician assisted suicide and pro-abortion left to fake caring about suicide cases here.
How so?
I'm not pro-abortion at all. I believe a woman has the right to choose what she can do with her body. IO also explained the difference I see between someone choosing physician-assisted suicide and someone who on a whim picks up a gun and shoots themselves.
We haven't even mentioned the chance of accidentally shooting someone else while shooting yourself or the chance that instead of killing yourself, you simply become a vegetable instead.
I know a lot of folks seem to think all things are either/or. But most issues have many shades of grey and nuance.
Comparing traffic deaths to firearm deaths is silly. Cars, trucks, and driving are an integral part of our economy; it would come to a screeching halt without cars. Because of that we accept accidents and deaths as a cost we have to bear for such an important part of our economy.
Public ownership of weapons on the other hand is a minuscule contribution to our economy. We could get rid of the 2nd Amendment and it would barely make a ripple in our GDP.
We don't have a choice with cars, we have to put up with the deaths they cause. The same cannot be said for firearms, other than the existence of 2A.
4000 teens die a year due to texting and driving and you don't think that is relevant ? There is a choice, we don't have to have our cell phones in our hands while driving. Are you going to hand yours in ?

More states/cities are starting to make laws to either drive without texting or go hands-free. Many car manufacturers are now adding safety features that encourage more hands-free communication while driving.
Just goes to show, it's not a gun problem, it's a mental issue problem. And have you seen some of these drugs being advertised on TV? Many of them have warnings of suicides. Why would the FDA approve a drug that has a tendency to cause people to commit suicide?
Yes you have to be very careful with these numbers. As has been pointed out, most deaths by gunshot in the US are suicide. There is plenty of evidence of no correlation between suicides and gun control. Japan, for example has extremely strict gun control, but a higher suicide rate than in the US. Israel has a high rate of civilian gun ownership and a low suicide rate (147th lowest out of 183 countries, per Wikipedia).
If you take the numbers from post #1, the number of deaths by auto accident is still at least double the number of non-suicides by gunshot. Sorry, this NRA talking point remains true.
I wondered which left-leaning person would tout the stat, and would also likely omit the largest fact in the whole study.
and how long it would take for someone to point out that simple fact.
how the rest of the critically important shakes out, I look forward to seeing ...
fatality by race of shooter/victim
cops killing suspects
mass shootings
school shootings
