Well there goes the "get rid of cars because more are killed in accidents than guns" NRA talking point.

Quote:
The number of Americans who died from firearms surpassed those who died in car accidents for the first time in 2017, according to a new far-reaching report on gun violence.
Quote:
nearly 40,000 people were killed in the U.S. by a gun, including approximately 2,500 school-age children.
Quote:
“That is over 100 people per day and more than five children killed each day,” the report stated.
Quote:
In 2017, 37,133 people died in motor vehicle crashes, according to the Department of Transportation.

If it's a problem-perhaps we should pass a law to make suicide illegal. 24,000 fewer deaths a year...

". Compared to a
young white male, a young black male is 20 times more likely to die of a firearm-related homicide."

while only about 12% of the population....throws the bell curve off

The total black population is about 12% of the US population. "Young black males"-are about 3%. Yet commit nearly 50% of the murders...

If everyone would just start their car in the garage we could move all those over to the car column.
