These men (oops, they were men) did a fine job, but did not squelch crime. Nor did their presence prevent clashes between cops and citizens.

I would have thought the person most qualified for the job should be the priority and not meeting some liberal postive discrimination target.
Didn't the former Police Commissioner of New York City James P. O'Neill have a disagreement with Mayor Bill de Blasio over the closing of Rikers Island and the changes to bail, which is one of the reasons he left early.

At least back then this white-lash wasn’t as bad. Funny how it took crazy, white Giuliani and white billionaire Bloomberg to significantly reduce crime in NYC. But they’re racist, so any improvement there doesn’t count.
Very interesting to see Bloomberg throwing his hat in the ring for the D ticket. I’d love to know if this “POC” voted for him as mayor.
