"My election was really a referendum on the establishment," Cawthorn told Fox News in a recent interview. "They're really sending me up here to fight against that."

As a lifelong Democrat, I am just fine with the "establishment" which is why I proudly voted for a lifelong politician and an overly effective prosecutor

That’s not a race card. Dudes had multiple flubs that point that way.

You aren’t wrong. But let me add to it. How Democrats win their districts is to register more voters, and then go door to door, ensuring every last vote is collected. Doesn’t matter how, just get the vote counted and it is not possible for your opponent to win.

When they cry about “voter suppression” what they are really crying about is that their voters are too lazy to vote and they need to be helped. Filling out fake ballots on the people who just refuse to vote is another strategy.

Until Republicans start to realize that registration is the key to victory, not the actual vote, they will continue to lose this game.

Republicans can no longer be the party of "no" and dodge thorny issues like health care and the environment. Instead, the GOP should be "thought leaders" on solutions.

Republicans also have been too hung up on social issues and should become libertarian on personal matters. The exception is abortion, which requires "very loud" opposition, he said.
The guy gets it. I’m a millennial who first voted R in 2016 and I can tell you that public perception among young people is that the Republicans are dumb, do nothing, religious zealots who do not understand the issues facing our country, particularly those with a scientific component.

This is sad because there is so much ripe ground to seize on these issues. Take climate change as an example. It’s easy to make this an America First issue by pointing out that the US produces a relatively small percentage of the worlds carbon emissions, and our emissions have been flat for the last decade. At the same time, China, India, and Russia all produce tremendous amounts of carbon emissions and theirs are shooting upward like a rocket ship. The solution isn’t to tax and regulate American people and businesses. It’s to punish our adversaries.

I'd love both parties to have some fresh, young faces to change the things that need to change, keep the things that are important parts of our democracy. I'm not a fan of AOC or this guy......but hope they inspire other young people to run for political office.

I'm 61 and want the younger people to get more involved.

And the 'race card' call isn't random -- it's been a criticism of this guy. I'm not sure that he will be the image that many young voters will be attracted to.
