Hard to say from a legal standpoint whether California's Castle Doctrine law would apply here.

Can go either way but not surprised they would arrest good samaritans in cases like these and excuse criminal behavior.

An Oakland Chinatown liquor store owner was arrested by police after he intervened in a robbery outside his store on Monday, KTVU has learned.

A 36-year-old man faces one count of felony assault with a firearm, authorities said.

A community member told KTVU that the store owner fired four gunshots when he witnessed a woman being robbed for her camera outside his store at 9th and Franklin streets on Monday at about 5:45 p.m. No one was injured after his gun went off.

As the wife and I progressed through firearms training, the reoccurring theme from all instructors was to exercise extreme caution before getting involved in a third-party dispute. And cases like this are a great example of why we should use caution as the political climate elevates villains while punishing heroes.

Yep, crime surge and a guy tries to help out a fellow human being and gets arrested.

Ironically, he didn't even shoot the guy.

Apparently that's the key in Oakland, if you shoot and kill someone then they can't find and arrest you.

Maybe the response times for social workers is really slow in that area?

^^^Great advice from the instructors. ESPECIALLY if you live in certain parts of the country where prosecutors are just itching to make an example of people.
