So russia had a parade showing off their military stuff etc etc including their new nuke missles. Well, I found the one quote to be rather amusing.

Quote:
Despite the aggressive symbolism, the US reacted with insouciance.

"If they wish to take out their old equipment and take it for a spin, they're more than welcome to do so," a Pentagon spokesman said.

Interesting....it seems like the usual same-old, same-old posturing of political entities of said nations when it feels the need to propogate a general message to its public or conceived enemies.

Seems like a large waste of gas to me. Not to mention the fact that the city of Moscow has to spend 35 million USD to repair the roads the tanks and other equipment pass over.

We are funding their resurgence through our oil consumption. It should not be a surprise that they want to flex their muscles a little.

We have lost so much credibility under this president Russia, China, Iran...you name it...is happy to strut their stuff. Thanks bush!

You have to admit now that they have cash to spend. Russia is booming. I have a friend that spent some time in Moscow on business and he said that the place is like London or New York but more expensive and with more cash flying around.

But that isn't necessarily boosting the gov't coffers there...

The Russians DO have some pretty good fighter aircraft.

this parade was only a show for a celebrating not for agression, russian army is weak, it is almost slavery. soldiers receive food for 1$ a day, wear druckfilz jackboots and large pieces of cloth instead of socks. there are modern tanks and aircrafts but they are sold to india, pakistan and others. at the same time russian troops are sometimes armed with WWII mosin rifles. so you shouldn't be afraid
