I wouldn't be so sure about that. Especially if China were to get involved.
I'm so sure about it, even with China. The only thing Russia has is nukes. If they didn't have nukes, we would be regarding this Russian invasion into Ukraine about like we regarded the Iraqi invasion into Kuwait. In other words, we would be giving them an ultimatum.
It might or it might not. Putin already said if the west tried to stop him in Ukraine there would be a response never seen in recorded history (paraphrasing). Many have interpreted that to mean a nuclear response. He could play the nuclear card again with Poland or whatever country he wants to take and what will NATO do? Get nuked or let Putin have Poland?
The nukes fly both ways. He could also be talking about an EMP pulse.
Putin is counting that the West will avoid a nuclear war at all cost because the West has much more to lose. It's the same thought process a suicide terrorist with a bomb strapped to him goes through. He will die but his richer enemy will die too. Would a very rich person be willing to die in a fight with a poor person?
Putin uses this as leverage against NATO. He will play this trick every time he wants to invade another country.
The people behind Putin are very rich and a lot to lose.
One person cannot deploy a nuclear weapon, so even if Putin wanted to go nuclear, giving the order would result in an immediate coup.
The oligarchs know it, the generals know it and Putin knows it.
If I had to venture a guess, I would think the real plan is to grab as much real estate as possible and then relocate as many loyal Russians into the new territories as possible.
Putin doesn't want a Ukraine full of pissed-off Ukrainians.
He wants the land, assets and industries of the Ukraine, minus the pissed-off Ukrainians.
Putin has no regard for international laws. He invaded Ukraine just like that. If he invades Alaska, would Biden fight back or surrender? If the USA fight backs, can we actually beat them? Now, I know some of you are saying nonsense, not gonna happen in a million years. A lot of people said the same thing about Ukraine. Putin was bluffing, he just wanted some attention. But he invaded.
Whether it's the CCP or Putin, it doesn't hurt to be prepared.
