Not quite. You can use either one if the gun is built to handle 5.56......but you are asking for trouble if you put 5.56 in one that is designed only for .223.

A sort of a bitter laugh when the Ukraine war started up and my anti gun friends saying do the right thing and send your AR-15 to help out our Ukraine Sisters and Brothers......I wanted very much to ask them if they were trying to get them killed (but didn't want to risk FB jail).

Alec Baldwin does so yes there's a precedent for an utterly irrational and technically brain dead seat at the table in the gun control conversation.

Guns do not commit crimes - people do. The biggest issue you have is that the ones who commit crimes are the ones that do not follow gun laws either - people that follow laws should be able to have guns to protect themselves and loved ones from those who do not.

The issue is that you are trying to take the guns away from the wrong people - no amount of regulation and restriction against legal owners is going to get guns away from the law breakers - that is why these gun regulations fail so badly in places like Chicago - the wrong guys are the only ones with the ability to have the gun.
