You calling people "snowflakes" isn't the truth. It's your opinion. You don't like that military bases with Confederate names are being renamed. You respond with name calling. Maturity means expressing that you don't like what's going on, and doing so in an intelligent manner. I just see petulant behavior from you. And saying "grow a set" is another sign of immaturity and a lacking of intelligence. How do you expect to be taking seriously with that kind of mentality?

That you bring this up tells me I touched a nerve. I said nothing about George Floyd, but you brought him up. All I see from this post is gaslighting and petulant thinking.

This is tragic.
At the end of the Civil war, the winners adopted the attitude of respect and magnanimity for the losers, in order to embrace them back into the UNION.
Thus all confederate symbols became AMERICAN symbols - their soldiers were honored and not as "enemies".
Who benefits from this vile renaming?
How does it strengthen the Union?

So profoundly true. I wouldn't be surprised if the people on here who are against renaming bases think the Southern states should have been given the freedom to end slavery whenever they decided to. It would have been interesting to see if slavery would have lasted as long as beyond the 1920s until the last state abolished it.

It's past time to move forward from the Confederate War and rename bases after people who played important roles during later wars when the country was fully united.

It's just not an admirable conservative response to be against renaming those bases.

Personally, I think it's a load of crap!!!! These post's (which they are called in Army land...not bases unless they are joint) are still going to be called what they have for decades.

Fort Benning renamed as Fort Moore. Established as Benning in 1918-named after a LOCAL
Fort Bragg renamed as Fort Liberty. Established in 1918-named after a NC native
Fort Gordon renamed as Fort Eisenhower. Established in 1917- named after a gentleman who was a Governor of GA and also Senator
Fort A.P. renamed as Fort Walker. Established in 1947- named after Virginias General
Fort Hood renamed as Fort Cavazos. Established in 1942-named after a leader who led a Texas brigade during the civil war
Fort Lee renamed as Fort Gregg-Adams. Established in 1904-named after Robert E Lee
Fort Pickett renamed as Fort Barfoot. Established in 1942- Named after a Maj Gen who was killed in the battle of Gettysburg
Fort Rucker renamed as Fort Novosel. Established in 1942
Fort Polk renamed as Fort Johnson. Established in 1941- After a Bishop/ General

Each installation has quite a history. This is where the political correctness is going to an extreme.
I wonder if them changing the names to some of these places are trying to make them more desirable to be stationed at?
So if they change the name of military installations who have confederate ties, are they going to change the name to installations with union ties too?

Once again, when are they going to rename installations that were named after Union soldiers (traitors or not) since they want to erase history so bad?

Yes we do.

There are several works of art in the United States Capitol honoring former leaders of the Confederate States of America and generals in the Confederate States Army, including eight statues in the National Statuary Hall Collection, busts and portraits.

So unless you plan on breaking into the capitol, they will stand forever.

George Washington was a traitor to the British, they have statues of him there as well.

Every revolutionary is a traitor. Every traitor was a failed revolutionary.

Then you might want to start crying because there’s plenty of confederate statues, not in museums, that have legal protections to not be removed and or failed to be removed.

Thanks for highlighting the reality that these statues, not in a museum, aren’t going away.
