Go drive by a lot, is it full of new cars? No, no it isn't. Welcome to supply and demand, the back-log is *massive*. (I know, I work in a *related* industry, I know exactly what is going on.)

I'm waiting to buy a new car myself, but I'm going to wait (this is called pent up demand) so expect another 2 years probably before things normalize.

Not sure why with high inflation you would expect gas prices to return to where they were 3 years ago, especially if your state instituted gas tax increases like several did.

Hey, I'd love to be a teenager in the 80's again and be able to get a value meal at McDonalds for $4, see a movie for $5 and buy gas for $1.25 a gallon.

A lot of our money is going to government also, starting in 2021. Here's tax revenue by year:

Total receipts of the U.S. government in fiscal years 2000 to 2028

FY 2022 $4.90 trillion
FY 2021 $4.05 trillion
FY 2020 $3.42 trillion
FY 2019 $3.46 trillion
FY 2018 $3.33 trillion
FY 2017 $3.32 trillion
FY 2016 $3.27 trillion
FY 2015 $3.25 trillion

It remained fairly flat until 2021 and 2022. A $1.5 trillion leap is quite the jump.

Definitely!

Food companies view inflation as occasional opportunities, and they don't want to miss out. There are no federal laws against price gouging.
People keep buying food at the grocery store, despite higher prices - giving producers an opportunity to convince retailers that those higher prices won't drive customers away.

Look which food companies made biggest profit on inflation:

Yes! Food corporations are using inflation as cover to jack up prices.

Seems things stayed reasonable for at least the last 15 years under Obama & Trump Administration's...then, went crazy right after the start of this present Administration.
That's rather telling.
Why would big Corporations feel that the climate was right at this present time to raise profit margins and grab bigtime?
They can jack up prices any time they want...any business can. Why now?

Lol, now you're just full of beans because there are walmarts in about every direction from there.

You're probably within 5 miles of a walmart and just like to complain about the prices at Publix.

Had another poster crying about Tampa food prices, turns out they shopped at Whole Foods about 2 blocks from a store (Walmart) half that price.

I don't go 2 Walmart bart but maybe 2 times a year. I got some free eggs Sunday from my friends that have chickens. I like my meat pete from Publix. Winn Dix is a joke and the store stunk the last time i was in one.
