Car prices were inflated as high as 25% at some dealerships. They still haven’t returned to pre-COVID prices. When gas prices spiked prices went up accordingly, they haven’t come back down with the price of gas.
Go drive by a lot, is it full of new cars? No, no it isn't. Welcome to supply and demand, the back-log is *massive*. (I know, I work in a *related* industry, I know exactly what is going on.)
I'm waiting to buy a new car myself, but I'm going to wait (this is called pent up demand) so expect another 2 years probably before things normalize.
Not sure why with high inflation you would expect gas prices to return to where they were 3 years ago, especially if your state instituted gas tax increases like several did.
Hey, I'd love to be a teenager in the 80's again and be able to get a value meal at McDonalds for $4, see a movie for $5 and buy gas for $1.25 a gallon.
A big part of inflation since Covid era has been huge corporations profits per unit item. Check the percentage increases relative to historical averages:
P.S. When I vacation there and used to have no option like Publix it's like *holy cow* did I accidentally wander into a whole foods? Let's not confuse reality with Publix.
I am 28.31 miles from that Walmart bart. Like i am gonna drive and burn $16 in gas las to save 1,50 on eggs

People keep buying food at the grocery store, despite higher prices - giving producers an opportunity to convince retailers that those higher prices won't drive customers away.

Seems things stayed reasonable for at least the last 15 years under Obama & Trump Administration's...then, went crazy right after the start of this present Administration.
That's rather telling.
Why would big Corporations feel that the climate was right at this present time to raise profit margins and grab bigtime?
They can jack up prices any time they want...any business can. Why now?
Lol, now you're just full of beans because there are walmarts in about every direction from there.
You're probably within 5 miles of a walmart and just like to complain about the prices at Publix.
Had another poster crying about Tampa food prices, turns out they shopped at Whole Foods about 2 blocks from a store (Walmart) half that price.
I don't go 2 Walmart bart but maybe 2 times a year. I got some free eggs Sunday from my friends that have chickens. I like my meat pete from Publix. Winn Dix is a joke and the store stunk the last time i was in one.
