On the other hand, The Dead Kennedys were part of the reason why the Parents Music Resource Center gained prominence and Tipper Gore had a big role in the PMRC. Lingering anger against the PMRC, whether conscious or unconscious, could have been what moved a couple thousand Florida voters away from Al Gore in the 2000 election, and what helped give the win to GWB.

So one could argue that it’s actually the Republicans who should find that the Dead Kennedys were the good ones for their purposes.

(Personally I’m largely indifferent to the Dead Kennedys, but have a bizarre soft spot for ’Holiday in Cambodia’.)
