The General knows what is best for the country!

Quote:
Former White House Chief of Staff John Kelly warned that if Donald Trump is re-elected to the White House, the government will be thrown into chaos by his reported plan to expand his presidential powers.

The New York Times’ Jonathan Swan, Charlie Savage and Maggie Haberman reported that Trump and his allies seek to consolidate more power and authority into the Oval Office if they can get him re-elected in 2024. The plan would reportedly consist of Trump assuming direct control over independent government entities, easing the process through which he can fire bureaucrats he doesn’t like, and reviving the power to “impound” Congressional funding for programs he may not approve of.

That fish wrapping paper will give anybody who doesn't like Trump a paragraph or two to spew not surprising.

Kelly is a man of character and a tough former Marine. I thinks his statement rings true. I recall him describing Trump as the most flawed person he ever met. At the risk of being called an alarmist another Trump term would be the end of American democracy.

How long have you known him? Did you meet in the corps?

John Kelly's specific quote about ex-P: "He's unhinged and an idiot."

The problem is, if Trump wins the nomination, we will be stuck with two candidates that will be described that way by 50% or more of the population. Then it comes down to who has the best policies, in which case Trump has the upper hand. Everything Biden has been doing has been weakening the country and causing a loss of confidence in the USA abroad.

I guess slow Joe hasn't introduced him yet to his son Hunter...

You didn't think so when he joined the Trump Administration.

So, how would you describe the current President's consolidation of power, primarily through Executive Orders and various agencies changing enforcement policies without Congressional oversight?

As a side note Kelley was a lousy Chief of Staff. He was unable to stop the constant leaking of (questionable) information from the West Wing or even root out those who heard about something that someone saw who heard about it and leaking it to the press.

They are not winning because of policies. That’s not where we are right now. They ask the red team or the blue team to tell why they will Vote for their candidate. Most cannot mention one policy. We may be in tune with the daily politics but most are not paying that much attention. They hear one thing and run with it with out verifying if it’s even true. Like the Vets kicked out of the hotels for illegals. Never happened. Most stay in the child level politics.
We are not electing good leaders. I wished people like Kelly would run.
