Might be a good time to invest in Real Estate Investment Trusts with so much federal money being poured into housing:

The Biden administration is launching a multi-agency effort to encourage states and cities to convert more empty office buildings into housing units, with billions of federal dollars available to help spur such transitions.

I wonder why there is a shortage of housing?

(sarcasm)

"Never underestimate Joe's ability to f**k things up."

-- Barackback Mountain Obama

You can see this ending about as well as appointing Pete Buttplug as Trans Secretary, a guy who has never met a task that he could accomplish. This is literally the wrong time, and the wrong inflationary environment to even think that this is a good idea.

I don't agree with this either, but I wonder if seniors won't qualify with income requirements and the apartments will only go to those who get government assistance (Section 8). That's the way it is now in my area in most rental apartments (not affordable gov. housing), the seniors on social security are not accepted because their social security and pension checks don't meet the income requirement but they accept Section 8.

I have noticed recently news announcements about more money for Sect 8 vouchers and SNAP. In other words programs designed to help those most affected by the failing economy. The economy which is failing because of Biden's policies. An attempt to convince those in the middle class and below things are not really so bad while those with better jobs and who own their own homes continue to blissfully ignore the blight of those who do not. Just look how often posts appear on these forums saying how things are good for them personally. And they are good, they are good for those friends of mine above a certain income level. Everyone who has not done so well is constantly complaining so time to create more Government assistance to keep the masses in line. The Bread and Circus of modern times. Sect 8 housing and SNAP...

Where are all these billions coming from, billions for Ukraine, Israel, other foreign aid, housing, EV rebates, etc? Joe's printing press? Who is going to pay, the middle class?

The government should not be involved in this AT ALL!

Or if they do get involved, they should start with places like Martha Vineyard and other exclusive/affluent places where many of the bleeding-heart leftist politicians live in.

Remember how the residents reacted to a small group illegal aliens being shipped to MV, maybe 50 or so?
They thought it was a major crisis, but don't give a flip about border towns dealing with hundreds of thousands every year.
So how many "affordable housing units" will be in such places, maybe 10 or so?

"Billions of federal dollars" and "affordable" do not belong in the same sentence together.
