Quote:
Three-quarters of Republican voters say there should be no more debates, contending that the GOP should, instead, coalesce behind former President Donald Trump and “fight Biden’s political indictments,” a McLaughlin & Associates survey found.

The survey asked Republican primary voters if they agreed or disagreed with the following statement:

Currently Donald Trump is leading in all the Republican primary polls nationally by very big margins of 30, 40 or more points and winning early states like Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina by big margins. Even more important President Trump leads Joe Biden in the national media polls like ABC/Washington Post, CBS, Harvard Harris and others. It’s time to stop the RNC debates attacking Donald Trump, fight Biden’s political indictments, and rally Republicans behind President Trump so we can start the campaign of beating Joe Biden.

Overall, 76 percent agree with the sentiment that the debates should end, and of those, 56 percent “strongly” agree,” and 19 percent “somewhat” agree. Just 16 percent disagree with the statement, and among those, 11 percent “strongly” disagree and five percent “somewhat” disagree. Eight percent do not know or refused to answer.

I thought Republicans were fragmented?

The MSM and social media want to keep implying they are, but it seems fairly obvious (assuming you trust polling anymore) that Trump will win in a landslide. Still it is early, and who knows what will happen.

Former President Trump has fifty to sixty percent support of Republicans, according to polling. That means he does not have the support of forty to fifty percent of Republicans. I include myself in those forty to fifty percent. He has yet to do or say anything to earn my primary vote. What does he plan to do about our outrageous spending? I don't know. No one's asked him that and he hasn't said anything about it.

His lack of debating reeks of entitlement.

There's no link to the source. Considering that only far right sources are covering this "story" so far, I question its legitimacy.

No need for him to debate republicans when he’s the one most want in the WH. Nothing to gain debating with them. He has enough on is hands dealing with bogus witch hunts and preparing for the next election.

The JV team can debate one another. And very few will watch.

+1 Strongly Agree

All the candidates but Vivek squandered their opportunities in the debates. He's the only one that stood with Trump. Some of them made an absolute mockery of themselves (Pence, Christie). Some of them had a chance going in, but blew it (DeSantis, Haley).

Interesting poll. The majority of Americans favor socialism over capitalism yet also want smaller government.
That's an oxymoron in itself.

Just because 379 Republicans don't want any debates doesn't mean the rest of America also agrees.

A link to the poll is in the article, as they usually are, but I added it to my post just for you.

Yes an no. It's a problem when only fifty-two or fifty-five or fifty-eight percent of your party backs you, because that means forty + percent of your party does not back you. You cannot win an election with that amount of your party not supporting you. He needs to focus on growing his base, including winning back people like myself, if he has any prayer at winning next year. He needs more Conservatism and less populism, especially concerning fiscal matters.

Fox News doesn’t want Trump, so that’s why they even existed in the first place. Now that it is obvious that the base has rejected everyone else, it’s time to shut them down.

Watching Chris Christie make an idiot of himself in order to make Dem voters happy, who still hate him, is beyond stupid.
