Why are people who describe themselves as "Progressives" or "Liberals" in favor of Hamas and Iran? It would seem, based on posts that they noisily advocate for "Palestine" and/or against Israel have no actual progressive or liberal values. What are their positions on:
  1. Women's rights?
  2. Gay rights?
  3. GLBTQIA+ rights?
  4. Rape?
  5. Torture?
What makes the above "progressive?"

You make a good point, why?

Progressives and liberals have never been about "rights", sure that's what they are marketed in the modern time by those are in charge. The movement has been to move away from Judeo-Christian values, its a completely spiritual warfare. If its been in the Bible, or Torah it must be discredited.

You have people calling themselves Progressives from Bernie Sanders, to Liz Warren, to Leftest AG's who let murders loose on the street, to Hamas supporting Congress women. It really doesn't mean much without qualifying what they stand for.

But somehow, Islam, an extreme arguably "Right" Religion is defended

It always puzzled me. How can one support women rights, gay rights, trans rights etc and.... Islam. Progressives scream patriarchy if a white man looks at a woman the wrong way, and complain how women are opressed in the western countries yet support the culture where women are stoned to death for being raped. Doesn't make any sense

This Progressive does not support Hamas or Iran...or any of the Intolerant Islamic countries. That said, I do feel Israel is going way over the line in their assault on Gaza...they are causing a humanitarian crisis and I'll neve support anyone doing that. Retaliation for what happened in Oct would have been fine but this is been far worse.

If you support Hamas, then by definition you sympathize with terrorists.

It is that simple.

Most ‘progressives’ that support Palestine are against Hamas. They want Palestinians to be free from Israel & Hamas’ current bombing of Gaza… if they do support Hamas then they are massively uneducated.

I'd say progressive causes are more Christian than what the evangelical religious right gets up to.

What I see is a lot of people confusing a progressive want of treating religions equally as somehow being favoritism of Islam to the detriment of Christianity or what have you. "When you're accustomed to privilege, equality feels like oppression." Like the annual "war on Christmas" where simply saying Happy Holidays(which is inclusive of Christmas and other holidays that time of year) is somehow anti-Christian. Ludicrous.

Can pretty objectively say Israel has gone overboard in their retaliation. Saying that is not pro-Hamas or anti-Israel.

That's your Idea of what a Progressive is. I imagine Angela Davis, Richard Delgado, Mari Matsuda, Liz Warren, all have a different belief of what being a Progressive is
