The author states “uncomfortable” truths, but he ignores the obvious. The definition of “Civilization” has been successfully narrowed to mean a placid, comfortable life for those in positions of power, and the rest, the hoi polloi, be damned.
This is nothing new, there are many examples throughout history, and the result is usually a period of violent revolution.
The most consequential falsehood in American public policy today is the idea that any racial disparity in any institution is by definition the result of racial discrimination.
If a cancer research lab, for example, does not have 13 percent black oncologists—the black share of the national population—it is by definition a racist lab that discriminates against competitively qualified black oncologists; if an airline company doesn’t have 13 percent black pilots, it is by definition a racist airline company that discriminates against competitively qualified black pilots; and if a prison population contains more than 13 percent black prisoners, our law enforcement system is racist.

I don't disagree with the author's main point, that seeking racial equivalence, just for the sake of satisfying some numerical target, is foolish. But her claim that this is "destroying our civilization" I find to be a bit over the top.
As children of God, yes -- We are all created equally.
As deserving of God's love and salvation through Christ, yes -- We are all created equally.
With the same natural rights as anyone else, yes -- We are all created equally.
Under the law, yes - We are all created equally.
But that doesn't mean we are all created with the same gifts and burdens.
Some are smart; some can barely tie their shoes.
Some are physically superior; some can't run a 20-minute mile.

Disparate impact has been the biggest arrow in the lefts quiver of anti white racial discrimination, and Heather McDonald notes multiple examples of that. Dragging down standards is dangerous, but it is indeed happening due to the assumption that disparate impact is only caused by racial discrimination.
Heather McDonald always brings the goods, the goods being factual information and not hyperbole.
Her comment was our civilization is at stake, not destroyed. Your misconstrued version of what she actually wrote is hyperbole.
Her comment on our civilization is at risk is indeed factual, especially if we stay on this current path as a nation.
I will C/P one section here that shows how the U.S. sliding down in capabilities and standards, while others are excelling.
"The ongoing attack on colorblind excellence in the U.S. is putting our scientific edge at risk. China, which cares nothing for identity politics, is throwing everything it has at its most talented students. China ranks number one in international tests of K-12 math, science, and reading skills; the U.S. ranks twenty-fifth.
China is racing ahead in nano physics, artificial intelligence, and other critical defense technologies. Chinese teams dominate the International Olympiad in Informatics. Meanwhile the American Mathematical Association declares math to be racist and President Biden puts a soil geologist with no background in physics at the top of the Department of Energy’s science programs. This new science director may know nothing about nuclear weapons and nuclear physics, but she checks off several identity politics boxes and publishes on such topics as “A Critical Feminist Approach to Transforming Workplace Climate.”
Keep dropping those standards, America.
