Let's see your opinions: what good are trade deals to Americans? Do they benefit us in any way?

Did you purchase a Big Three vehicle in the 80's?

Let's start with this.

1) Finances our debt
2) Solidifies the dollar as the world's reserve currency.
3) Promotes foreign investment in the USA.

And that is just what the trade deficit does.

Trade deals by themselves are neither good nor bad. The devil is in the details.

But we absolutely must have trades if we are to grow economically.

Do you mean the ones built in Canada and Mexico?

Did you buy a big 3 vehicle anytime between 1904 and today? Because those were built in Canada, too. Damned Obama.

Economic Freedom.. Which brings the bottom up quickly. Less public assistance needed.

There are wise trade deals, stupid trade deals, and everything in between. The only bad trade deal is one that hurts all, or a majority of it's participants.

For the US, recent trade deals have led to an erosion of good paying middle class jobs, withering of domestic industry, loss or decline of some important industries (like the ones that helped us win world wars). Consumers have enjoyed cheap consumer goods.

I don't think we have been the ultimate benefactor of recent trade deals, which is why we need wiser people in charge of negotiating our trade deals.

the only trade agreements needed are the ones worked out between the principles. In other words, no govt trade agreements are necessary.

Truly free trade is very simple. If you want to buy something from a foreign producer, or sell something to a foreign consumer, you can. The government won’t get in your way with tariffs, duties, quotas, or conditional regulations that you have to comply with before the transaction can take place.

Managed trade involves multiple governments coming together and deciding the terms under which their citizens will interact with one another.

The trade deals we have now with other countries are managed trade, not free trade. So it is good for nothing.

Excuse me? The so called American car in some instances had it's genesis in Canada; the Buick and Chevrolet for two, and American economic muscle brought an end to that by simply buying up the competition.

Automotive Industry - The Canadian Encyclopedia

Now you're finally seeing the other side of economic clout in an open market system being used to the detriment of your country and it's all whining and gnashing of teeth.

Americans: only satisfied when they're on the top of the heap looking down at others.

You folks really are as shallow as you're portrayed.
