Interfaith conference examines what unites, divides people from different religions

"70 percent of Americans believe that multiple faiths can lead to salvation"

"The bottom line is we're trying to get people to stop killing each other in the name of God," said Chaffee, who is also a United Church of Christ minister. "The task is to see if we can take this new religious culture and make it kinder and safer for all of us."

I think what they really should do is talk honestly and openly about the biggest religious problem of all...

A good portion of Islam preaches intolerance and hatred to it's youth - just read the media about what goes on in Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Lebanon, Yemem..... It seems that the majority of Imans are nothing but hateful thugs in religious garb - ugly and sexually deprived to boot.

Where do you think you'd be most likely to find a weapons-cache today: in a mosque, a church or a synagogue? Unless you're disingenuous or 100% PC, your most certainly pick the mosque.

So, until the religious leaders of Islam start preaching peace and tolerance, and start de-readicalizing their populations that have been filled with hatred since birth, there will NEVER be peaces among the religions. To believe otherwise is to believe in the tooth-fairy... (Hey, is my tooth lose?)

There will never be peace among the religions. However, there will never be an end to murder among members of any one religion either.

I wish there was an answer, but I am afraid it crosses political lines and can only be looked at through the psych.

I think people who promote their religion in a peaceful manner are more peaceful people.

One of the things that eliminates the chance for true followers of Islam from being peaceful is that Mohammad was not a peaceful prophet. Jesus was. Christians follow the teachings set forth by the New Testament. While the old testament was violent, most Christians derive our teachings from the New Testament. Jesus did not preach hate. In the Parables, he said let the good and the bad live together, for it doesn't matter how the bad live in the current life. They will be judged in the end.

Unfortunately, many Christians do not follow his Parables, teachings, guidelines, etc. But if we all did, as Christians, we would truly be a religion of peace.

Islam, however, follows the teachings of Mohammad. Again, he was not a peaceful man, or a pacifist at all like Jesus was. He murdered his fair share of people. He was also a pedophile. His teachings reflect his violent temperament, and it is obvious he is a fake. For Christians to acknowledge Islam as a religion equal to Christianity is to demean Christianity.
