Talked about it a little in another thread... but wanted to openingly Congratulate Bush on his proper handling in bettering the economies of his constituents. In the last 8 years, in the most part, States that are traditionally Republican ended up better off than the Blue States.

Go Red!
- Ethanol Boost benefits the Central Planes
- Oil boom benefits his home State and the States by the Bakaan Formation (S/N Dakota and Montana)
- Ag boom helps out most of the other Red States

Down with the Blue!
- Finance Collapse hurts New York
- RE Collapse hurts California
- Manufacturing loss hurts the Mid-west and rust belt

So, in the Most part, George Bush and his Administration did a great job for strengthening the economies of the Red States. Go Bush!

Traditionally Blue and Red States:

GDP Growth:

BEA News Release (GDP by State)

Just overlay the red and blue states over the economic growth, and you'll see that most of the Red States have done comparatively well.

Yeah, explain that budget deficit that came out of what was a SURPLUS in 2001. Bush ended the halycon days of America, and thanks to him my generation can be taxed for mistakes he made in Iraq.

Want some cheese with that whine, MM? Oops, that'll be taxed, too, either way!

You missed military weapons in the mix.

KillCo, Inc. is mostly a GW and Red State thang, as well.

I guess I am looking at it differently. Washington, Oregon, New York, DC - all in the highest quartile in growth. And they are all blue states. What am I missing?

Oh, your right Phil, Virgina and Texas are big time States that receive funds from the Department of Defense. California traditionally gets DOD funds, but it looks like that has been diminishing.

Defense spending increases to states uneven

There's bound to be some States that don't perfectly fit the Red/Blue line... but State vs. State comparisons, the majority of the Red States are doing better than the Blue States. Also, New York's financial collapse this year isn't being factored yet into the map. And we all know the large write-offs and slow downs in the financial firms.
