Because as I explained in post #137, I don't see any reason to allow another vice into society.
and as we have all shown in post after post, keeping this vice out of society causes more harm to the society than the vice. We're not trying to say that pot is totally harmless (I shouldn't speak for everyone, I am not trying to say that) we are trying to say that marijuana prohibition is asinine by means of what it costs society as a whole vs how much it helps; plus figure in the problems caused by mj itself, vs making it a black market item. There is no way that the amount of car wrecks, twinkies consumed in a day or whatever other stereotype marijuana users are stuck with can cause as much harm to our society as the prohibition does. Sure there are some pot heads out there that toke it from the second they get up in the morning. But there are alcoholics that do the same thing. So why is one getting sent to prison for doing essentially the same thing? I'm not saying that it needs to be in every home, that everyone needs to be smoking it, that it needs to be on every corner, but for gods sake it is nothing less than absolutely asinine to imprison someone for using it.

I just know that many illegal drugs (marijuana for one) have ruined many lives and there is no valid reason for anyone to use them.
I know of no one who used marijuana and ruined their life. My father uses it, I have many friends who use it, I have even used it on occasion. It makes one feel good, it doesn't ruin lives.
Not to mention, there's ways of using marijuana and not having to worry about cancer. Smoking it is not the only way.
I don't need to try it to know that I don't need mind-altering drugs to get through life.
Maybe not to get through life, but there's no more reason to ingest pot than there is to drink a beer.
