Non sequitur. Look it up in your parents' dictionary. Then look at your post. I'll wait here.

Civil Unions for some, Marriage for the rest? History has already told us that "separate but equal" is never equal. It could be considered a start, a baby step, towards complete equality; but it should not end with this baby step. When it comes to love and matters of the heart, I'm a hopeless romantic to the end.

Let us start with civil unions to get people used to the ideal, then we integrate. Either we integrate to everyone getting a civil union, or to everyone getting married. Personally, I don't care what terminology is used.

Gay mariage has zero bearing on anyone's life .

It won't raise taxes ,won't in the slightest way affect anyone's life so I support it. It should have been done years ago.

Besides, how would you even know if a gay couple got married unless you're at the wedding?

I could be wrong but I believe everyone in the U.S. goes to a civil authority to obtain a license to create a civil union. I don't think that Civil authority should have any business interfering in the request between two adults wishing to engage into such a union. Including some 'magistrate' who should certify such a union as legal. I believe this should be strictly a state function but protected under current federal regulations protecting the marraige thing.

I've always regarded the 'marraige' thingy as an affirmation of acquiescence to religious authority. Those wishing to subjugate themselves to religious authority need nothing more than a licensed charlatan.

All for civil unions and if they can find churches to perform religious ceremonies, fine. However, no church should be forced to do so.

No one needs a church for a civil union or a marriage. And, churches are certainly not "forced" to do anything.
