I do not know how true this site is but it had an article saying that NC and Arkansas have laws that prohibit atheists from holding a state office. Athiests would be at the botttom of the totem pole.
Talk To Action | Did you know NC's constitution bars atheists from holding office?

Great idea! Electing someone who isn't a Christian would force people to vote on the issues vice on identity issues.

As a Christian, I (and many other Christians) don't vote for a candidate solely because he/she claims to be a Christian. I vote based upon their stance on the issues and how it aligns with my worldview.

I know this is very old, but I felt a need to comment on it. I don't know what this person is talking about!? The only support churches get from the govt is tax-free status, similar to the Scouts and many other charitable organizations. There is no government money going directly to run churches.

I would be fine with a president of most any relgious persuasion, or no religion. I had no problems with Romney's LDS membership.

I wouldn't mind at all...

It shouldn't make a difference what religion the president is.. as long as he respected that everyone has differnet religions.

Our current Prez really seems to do that

I believe that our country has had many atheist, agnostic and deist presidents, particularily in our nations earliest years.
I do believe Obama is more then likely atheist - I have nothing to back that up, just a feeling I have.

But really, I don't care if potus is religious or not, christian or not. I would worry if the potus or vpotus was a religious zealot whether it be an islamist or a evangelical. Anyone whose religion urges them to die/speak in tongues/writhe on the floor/believes that Jesus himself will someday beam them up while slowly killing the rest of us sinners is a danger to society as a whole and should not be allowed anywhere near nuclear weopons.

But thats just my opinion

Do you care if he has the balls or not to stand up for what he thinks?

I love Barack Obama.

Very accepting of other faiths and recognizes there are more religions here aside from Christianity.

Thank you, GOD for Barack Obama!

I agree, as long as they promote no belief or disbelief. I do disagree with our current pres., he seems to stand more on the side of the non religious as opposed to the religious. That's abundantly clear by his stance on abortion. Life or death has no in betweens.
