I opened this thread thinking; especially when you're brain dead and your church guilts your family into not respecting your wishes. I'd rather not have those extra years of languishing artificially.
Thanks for the article, though. I do believe there's much truth to it because I've seen it first hand. I equate it with stress mgmt. via having a relationship with my maker.
This has a lot more to do with the feeling of community than any religion, IMO. Researchers say having friends and a feeling of community is good for the immune system and gives one a purpose in life.
I would think that this comes as bad news, especially for christians. Isn't the whole purpose to be rewarded entrance to heaven? I would think that you would be rushing to get there.
I am confused, how can you lower your risk of death? Doesn't everyone die?
