the us has its paws in the destabilizing of africa as well
Europe moreso. The European Imperialists raped Africa, then left them without any ability to govern, in countries whose borders were drawn arbitrarily with little concern over the tribal differences/etc.

Still the US has been instrumental in their conflicts, and only get involve when its interest are threatened
In apartheid South Africa (which had the highest standard of living on the continent for both Whites & Blacks) hundreds of thousands of Blacks immigrated from neighboring states to South Africa because of jobs.
Yes, evil apartheid South Africa, had hundreds of thousands immigrating from neighboring states (though, since the end of apartheid the living standard has declined dramatically and crime has skyrocketed as has rates of rape, murder, theft, violent crime, aids, etc -- basically any social ill).
I tend to agree... Them time to help is long gone.. and as for the UN???? LOL the US is the UN. we are the power and money behind that usless organization the sooner we cut the purse strings the better.........
I guess it is true, Americans don't get irony.
One one hand you argue that the US is the power and money behind the UN, and on the other you argue that the UN is useless, so we have to presume that the US's power and money has to have a great influence on the uselessness and powerlessness of the UN. Personally I find that rather ironic.

Raped Africa of what? Resources the people had no idea were there or had any idea of how to get to them?

Would you say the same about Saudi Arabia or Kuwait? Did those people have any more idea of how to drill for, pump and refine crude oil than Africans knew how to mine diamonds? Africa is being watched the way you watch a sparkler burn until its safe to pick up. That's when the political sparks will really fly. For now, its sparks of humanity that are being thrown off and extinguished forever.
Let the Euros do the heavy lifting in Africa. Our resources need to get some rest.
Plus, the rest of the world will love and respect us more if we quit butting into the affairs of others.
Actually, why should the Europeans do anything? Zimbabwe's neighbors are fairly heavily populated--Mozambique, Zambia and South Africa all have a lot to gain from a stable Zimbabwe. They're his neighbors--let them do some of the cleaning up in that corner of the world.
And I agree with your second comment! A less intrusive US can't be a bad thing.
