CAMARILLO -- A Jewish preschool in Camarillo has been vandalized with swastikas and anti-Semitic phrases for the second time in a week and the fourth time in a year.
A parent discovered the hate messages Monday morning at the Gan Camarillo Preschool.
Last Wednesday, vandals etched black swastikas on the sidewalk in front of the school along with the words "white power."

I know you're doing this thread tongue-in-cheek, but this is a sad story... how could they target a Pre-school? And for everyone who was confused about the definition of a hate crime, this would qualify. See, because this building was targeted for representing Judaism, not a position on a political issue. Plus the words "white pride" clearly imply their dislike of anyone non-"white."
Now back to your real point... as a Jew, this gives me a good excuse to hate all white people. Right??

Excellent point. Yes, I did intend to be tongue-in-cheek with this thread, but now I'm glad that I posted it. It serves as a great example to teach the difference between a hate crime (as in this case) versus a crime based on a political issue (as was the case with the vandalized Catholic church).

I mean - I assume it's heterosexuals who vandalized the Jewish preschool because I don't know of too many homosexuals who belong to white supremacy groups.

Is stereotyping Nazis as heterosexuals PC? Perhaps the Nazis have a "don't ask, don't tell policy". Just so you know, I think the hate crime laws that apply to speech and press are so extremely dangerous to free speech that I am willing to accept the heterosexual slurs you've used, and far worse, as a tiny price to pay for the freedom of expression that safeguards our democracy. When government is free to apply different measures to identical actions and decide what is and is not forbidden speech we're all screwed (the left too). I do wish the left would stop playing with fire.

GIZMO is right. In order to determine if a crime qualifies as a hate crime, you have to look at the motive behind the crime. The Catholic church was not attacked because of their religion, they were attacked because of their position on a political issue.

I guess you must be gay to mention that they are hetero sexual and I have no clue why you mention it together with the horrible crime they committed!!!
It isn't making the case of gays better if you are putting a label on a group which has nothing to do with the crime and how are you certain they were hetero sexual..did you interview them or did any of your female friends had sex with them? What if one of them turned out to be gay......
