After running America's (and much of the world's) economy into the ditch, the GOP wants the fix-it crew to adopt their ideas on "solutions" to the problem they created.
Well obstinance is no only thing republicans have left to hold on to. Never mind the country is in trouble. They are not trying to accomplish something constructive, it is all about them. (Bunch of childish idiots!!)
Personally, although I want stimulus bill, I think this one needs more scrubbing before it's ready.
I think it's a bit too much Pelosi and not enough Obama.

I'm shocked that any of our representatives would vote against a spending bill, especially one as huge as this. Wow. That is like offering crack to an addict and he just says "naw, not right now."

I don't really blame the Republicans.
Ken
I'm watching Rachel Maddow interviewing a GOP congressman right now and am coming to the same conclusion.
Ken, I agree. The bill doesn't fit the publicity. I heard that it had birth control stuff in it as part of the stimulus. That's either a moonbat issue or it's what defense contractors call a "hairy arm" which means something put in on purpose, and is so obviously wrong, that it gives reviewers a chance to line out something and feel they've done their job of protecting the government.
I hope the Senate changes the bill to take out some so-so stuff and put in a LOT of InfraStructure (IS). The point was made very clearly this evening on the Rachel Maddow show, where she pointed out that because of antiquated electrical IS, there are a million people sitting in the dark tonight because their electricity is off due to a winter storm. It's not a "storm of the century" or a "once every hundred years storm" but a common garden variety winter storm.
Money should be applied to burying power lines so trees can't take them down not to mention other IS investments that will pay big dividends in the years ahead. Further, the nation's civil engineers released a report card on our IS and the story is not pretty. We've skated along for decades by deferring IS maintenance. The engineers gave an estimate of $2.2T over 5 years to bring major segments of our IS up to standards.
Goes to the Senate, then to conference. Lots yet to come. Wrap up by the President's Day district work period...
