As many as 1 million gang members are believed responsible for as much as 80 percent of crime in America -- and the gangs are spreading across the country, according to a Justice Department gang threat assessment.
Gangs are a much bigger problem than a lot of people think. And it seems that this is spreading more and more!
Call it whatever you want...it does concern all of us.
tune in to the History Channel, "GangLand" very depictive documentaries on Gans in the U.S.
I saw a few episodes, it does really wake you up from your daily naive life.

I eas a policeman in Watts when the Crips were started--I've never understood why the US constitutional provison against advocating the violent overthrow of the US has not been invoked against gangs. Gangs are really dangerous--moreso than most people can even fathom.
The drug gangs in Mexico threaten to overthrow the government. If that happens those Mexican gangs will have a free ride at the border bringing Mexican gang problems to the US. They are already here but in a much lessor number. Last year there were over 6600 gang murders in Mexico. Some were decapitated and others put in barrels of acid to give you an idea of how vicious they are.
Our law need to updated to charge gang members as terrorists. I am also for stronger drug laws because drugs is the financial backbone of these gangs. I would like to see punishment for felonies, (more than 5 years jail time), outsourced to a place like China and run by the Chinese with no American intervention.

It is. Although it is somewhat innaccurate (I'm a pretty big criminal organization buff) and tends to more focus on specific events and individuals and not the organizations as a whole.
