I don't know that thousands of people in need of relief anywhere in the United States should necessarily become a political pawn argument of what administration responded faster.
My point is.... why aren't these people who are freezing, hungry and dying any less important to the American public as people stranded on a bridge. To add insult to injury....no one in Kentucky has even shot at damage assessment helicopters. We are barely hearing from them at all.
So, forgetting politics, what is wrong with us? Do we only care when we can make it a political issue?
Added: I certainly didn't mean to attack anyone on this thread, I was talking about America in general. The whole thing of how we sort out our causes seems to be wrong sometimes.
Everyone cares. Why do people automatically bring in Katrina?! Sanrene's thread too, and Kootr's. No relation whatsoever. An absolute non sequitur. Is it a talking point among the RW blogs and other media? Because otherwise I just dont understand the consistent attempts by so many to connect Katrina and the late Jan. ice storm of 2009, and try to squeeze out an opportunity for the daily indignation.
An ice storm is not a Category 5 hurricane with a telegenic buildup and dramatic duration. There are plenty of massive ice storms every year. We all get through them.
Obama did his job. If anyone has a beef wiht the fed govt about KY etc it's with FEMA. HOWEVER! When Napolitano called the governors of the states to check on the progress of the FEMA aid, none of them complained!

You are absolutely right. Our anger, frustration, etc. is totally misplaced. We should be focusing on why these situations still occur in the first place. Why is our infrastructure in such bad shape that something as common as a winter storm, an expected occurrence in many parts of the country every year, would knock out power and cause this kind of hardship.
We would rather spend the money to clean up the mess than spend it to prevent the mess in the first place.
only thing mr obama has to do for me is leave bagdad. put DOD back on a diet, best shot and not going broke. that and probably stop bailouts, they just steal the money.

I live in KY and the ice storm was very crippling, especially in Western KY. However I don't think it compares to Katrina because there are no rooftop rescues or people stuck in a convention center without food and water. I do know some people who haven't had power for 6 days though
In case anyone missed it in my post about Obama hating White People, that was a parody of Kanye West saying Bush hated Black People during a tv fundraiser for Katrina.
