Americans may not like the plan — but that doesn’t mean they think it’s a bad idea. While nearly two-thirds think the plan is unfair to those who follow the rules, 57 percent say they approve of the package, and 55 percent believe the plan will stabilize home prices.

"Americans don't like to see other people get special treatment, particularly when it comes to money, but they don't like to see others suffer either," said CNN Polling Director Keating Holland. "And unlike federal assistance to auto companies and banks, the Obama mortgage plan appears to benefit individual Americans, typically a more popular option in polls."
64% of those surveyed thought the program is fair to those who pay their mortgages on time. They phoned 2,573 people evidently at random. Bet that % would have been a lot higher if all the people they polled were people who paid their mortgages on time.
The poll also said 62 % blame lenders for the current crisis and 25 % who blame borrowers.
Are you kidding me! That's a large part of what is wrong with our country - we have become a nation of "it's the other guys fault that I behaved badly and made poor decisions".
Granted, there were some who did not have the knowledge or intelligence to make a wise decision but there was also a whole lot of "gimme, gimme", "I want a fancy house I can't afford" and greed out there. Really disgusts me!

Also, the typical American does not know details of anything that Obama proposes. It breaks my heart that our country's people have sunken to such low levels that nobody takes blames for their own mistakes anymore. I remember hearing on the radio back in 2004-05 back in socal that the warnings were there that ppl would be in deep doo-doo if prices were ever to go down. but everyone had to up the others to buy homes that they could not afford, banking that home prices would ALWAYS go up. Meanwhile, responsible ppl who stayed in apartments unti they saved enough $$ waited for home prices to go to a more sensible level. now the great messiah wants those irresponsible ppl to be bailed out. Thos responsible ones who waited for prices to go down will never get their break b/c of the messiah's crooked intervention with the free market forces. Obama sucks almost as much as Bush. I am really hating this country more and more.
No responses!!! I guess all you left-wing loonies think Obama's mortgage plan is fair.
Well of course the left loons will think anything Barry the Mssiah is sent from heaven. There are some people on the left that actually put the country before their team and they are beginning to wonder what the he11 they did back in November, welcome back.
