I have more confidence in Walmart to reach people in need before FEMA even gets their maps out for directions.

Before FEMA, the private citizens band together and did a much better job.

They knew it was up to them to make it happen and it happened fast and immediately.

Now people call 911.

Look at the SF quake in the last century. NO FEMA then
Look at the Galveston Hurricane. NO FEMA then

The citizens took care of business how they the locals wanted and did it very well.

I lack confidence in the government to efficiently handle most situations let alone a disaster. Especially a surprise disaster. History is against it.

I'm confident in my own disaster preparedness.

The Federal Government is about as organized as a bag full of angry cats.

Name a disaster where you said to yourself, "Gee, the Feds are really on top of this thing!"

Doesn't matter which party is in charge. They both suck.

Just look at past history.

Katrina..Walmart was there with water before FEMA.
Andrew..Publix was there with water before FEMA.

I lived in S. Florida when Andrew hit. Local help started immediately and those of us not directly effected volunteered time to help collect tons of essentials. FEMA stopped the local volunteers from actually delivering all that stuff to the people affected. Barricades were put up.

FEMA seems to think it's their job and ONLY their job to help people and only government issued items can be handed out. I saw that crap going on firsthand.

Nothing but the utmost confidence, especially in light of how successful they have been in keeping travelers from carrying shampoos and mouthwashes over 3.4 ounces onto an airplane

The "You're not official" mentality.

I do have confidence in U.S. disaster manipulation however.
