Well , I guess all those 'support your troops' people just don't trust the Navy to handle four pirates

They seem to feel Obama is doing nothing about the situation since he hasn't buckled on a sword and had hand-to-hand combat with the pirates....or dropped a nuclear bomb on them....

The only thing the repubs want to see is a full scale invasion of Somalia...should be a "three or four week cake walk" and they'll throw rose petals at our troops...and, and...oh, wait...this sounds familiar....

But hey FOUR Somali pirates daring to take an American hostage should be a really really good reason to start WWIII !!! Nuclear war, destruction, killing of thousands, ...Oh, I can see the blood lust in the Repubs eyes!!!!

since obama seems to be big on printing money, he should print the ransom money, get the hostages back, hand over the money, and blow the pirate ship up once it is back out to sea. i bet that would make any other pirate-hostage taker-killers think twice....
obama could then print more money to make up for the money we lost. it is a win-win for obama.

A typical ridiculous post concerning a serious situation.

Somali Pirates hijack ship with 20 Americans onboard; Are your loins girded?

No, but I'll just bet if those pirates harm a hair on that head of the ship's captain, the pirates who have him....their loins might get girded somewhat mysteriously.

As a previous boatswain mate 3rd class on board a destroyer, I can promise every single sailor on board would give one of their testicals for the opportunity to have one of the pirates in the crosshairs of their fifty cal. If the Captian is freed w/o harm and the pirates are not killed in retribution for the damned inconvience there will be a ship full of joyful sailors for his release but pi??ed because they did not get the chance to blow that remaining boat of scum out of the water.

It is about time the international community quit f'in with this scurge of scum. The time for killing is here, trials my ass, in the our past it was the plank or a cannon if they made it aboard and I think it is past time we started speaking in a language that the Somilies understand.

U.S. rules of engagement prevent the Americans using their vastly superior fighting power to engage the pirates if there is any danger to civilians.

I don't know anything about snipers so feel free to set me straight but regarding the small boat with the captain and the hijackers - if there was one sniper for each hijacker and they all shot their respective targets at the same time, couldn't they take them out? You know, it's different if they were on a big ship but I don't hear anyone on the news mention this possible solution, so what am I missing?

1.Boat has a cover over it, nobody can be seen.

2.Bouncing in a dingy on the ocean, trying to hold a rifle still on water to aim it?

3. Try shooting a rifle from a boat sometime, you will then, "get it".

4. Too much of a chance of killing the captain.
