Since 42 of 50 states have laws that allow it's citizens to carry a handgun concealed or not concealed, a true stimulus plan would pay for free concealed handgun classes for anyone who was qualified. Upon graduation you'd receive a $500 coupon for any American made gun and ammunition.

This would be putting our tax money to good use and criminals would then have to deal with a much better armed citizenry who could shoot back if needed.

Sounds like a great idea to me.

Oh man, are you gonna get it from the antis in this forum...

I'm opposed to any unnecessary government spending, but if they're going to insist on spending our tax dollars foolishly, I wouldn't mind seeing some of it go to something like this.

I personally think the U.S should issue a pistol to everyone on their 21st birthday and require them to become qualified with and carry them every time they leave their homes, men and women alike.

Carrying supplementary .30-30 lever action carbines, however, would be optional.

The anti-gun people forget that the 42 states that allow people to carry firearms are loosening their laws on where you can carry. TX is soon to pass a law this session that will allow college student to carry on public campuses.

What would be a better give to give a kid going off to school then a concealed hand gun class and a Smith & Wesson ? No more Virginia Tech if half the classes were armed.

but but but, if everyone carried a firearm, then the democrat party would not have any victims to cry over and their party base would dry up.

I think it would be a great idea, less crime and more ownership of firearms is always better.

So carrying guns to school and everywhere you go is what you want to see? As for the one remark about Virginia Tech, that had the students been armed this would not have happened. You, who made the remark are an idiot, like most who promote the idea of walking around brandishing pistols and rifles. You are as equally for the destruction of America as the far left! Do you think everyone 200 years ago walked around carrying weapons? No, they were building a nation and making it safe. This is what we are coming to? That all must carry guns to be safe? The opposite will occur. As a gun owner, I do not wish to walk around carrying a pistol, or a rifle. It is easy to go off to a rifle range and open fire on still targets. How would you act if face to face with another shooter? Perhaps you would nail them dead with one shot. The Virginia Tech incident would have never happened if: The school's administration had expelled that nut job Cho when teachers urged them to do so. The system knew about this jerk and let him slip through it. It was boneheaded liberalism that has allowed so many goofs to be walking around as Cho was instead of locking them up as they used to have done to them. Arming all the citizens in the US will not reduce the current level of crime, enforcing laws, citizens taking back their country by getting involved in every aspect of politics and community affairs will.
Gun ownership is our right, but having to walk around all the time with a gun shows you have not done your part in helping to make your town, county etc a safer place-it does involve you! Sitting around holding your gun and watching Clint Eastwood's Dirty Harry movies may make you feel good-but in the end, it will make you know safer. Not being involved is why our nation is falling apart, consider this, we once-not so long ago would not have even worried about needing to carry firearms around at all time, but now we do. Why? Look in a mirror-all of us need to. Go take your community, town, state and nation back from the nut jobs who have stolen it from you under the guise of do gooder liberalism. Don't become a nut job yourself. If you honestly feel threatened, get a concealed weapons permit, for walking around showing it won't make you safe-it will likely mean you get shot in the back. Sorry to rant on so long about this, but as said, as a gun owner, it is the extreme thinking by some of us which worries me into thinking it is talk like that which will result in our guns being taken away. Folks, our military is better armed than us, so don't ever think they couldn't take our guns from us. So as stated over and over like a broken record-Get Your Ass in Gear and Get Involved and be part of the political solution and take your government back!

If a student over 21 can pass a concealed handgun course and are licensed their rights should not stop at a college parking lot. Those late night rapes of coeds, a Virginia Tech crazy all reinforce the need to carry on campus if you are qualified.

The TX law should allow concealed carry on campus of Public schools. Private schools will have the right to restrict guns as they so choose.

I'm not advocating some 8th grader taking his dads guns to class.

You can't put restrictions on someone rights with some course. 21 give them a gun.

As matter of fact what they should give everyone in America at age 21 is a M16 and 1000 rounds.

I'm OK with reducing the age to 18 if they still pass the course. If you can join the military and get shot, they should be able to carry a wepon.
