Its pretty much a haven for pirates with a huge number of recruitees... They have cost the world several millions over with their piracy with armed gunmen... is it time to take over and jail them?
WONDERFUL idea....JUST what we need! An angry, dysfunctional, violent group of new American 'beneficiaries', eligible for all sorts of US Government aid, furious at us for butting in, killing a few 'Somali freedom fighters', as we fend off charges of 'interfering with Black Africa', 'invading an Islamic' (or partially Islamic) nation', and have to FORCE democracy on them at gun point, as we 'bleed' Somalia of its resources, and the world unites in condemning us for 'cultural insensitivity', and 'shooting up the place'.

Reading this brings back the shame and humiliation an American had to bear during the Bush Administration. Fortunately now our pride has returned and we can laugh and shake our heads when we hear stuff like this.
Remember that whatever we do, we are saying that the same thing is OK for them to do to us.
Maybe we could get them to take one of our wayward states????? I doubt if they would bother with jailing the citizens. They probably would just shoot them.

Yes, let's go take over Somalia as we fight in Iraq and Afghanistan... we did a great job in the 90's in trying to stabilize the government in Somalia so let's do it again!

Glad to see that someone can see past the Red White & Blue colored sun glasses. We just need to tell all the ships to stay out in International waters and allow no more shippments in that region, "of American ships". Its better to say, "put a stop to it, or we stop all shippments". No more blood get spilled that way.
Should the world do something about a failed state rife criminals, yes. Obama could do something and still have credibility. You see what happens and pirating enables the most evil and dangerous of them all leaving the people of Somalia impoverished. The whole Oil for food thing without the oil if we try to send aid... Instead we'll just continue to pay aid through insurance directly to the terrorist with no intentions at all about feeding or helping anyone else. Seems like a winning strategy. *scratching head*
Maybe we should send the pirates a letter with ribbons and flowers pleading they stop their evil ways...
No absolutely not. We are not in a financial position to launch another invasion.
We have other options like destroying their "motherships" and sending more navy ships to patrol the area.
We must also work in conjunction with other countries because the area that needs to be patrolled is large (the size of texas).
This is the opinion of someone who supports the war in Afghanistan so I'm not some anti-war hippie.
