Wonderful news, of course. I think it's important for us to keep in mind that Ahmadinejad is not the whole government. The Islamic clergy still play a big role and they are much more centrist than Ahmadinejad. He's catering to the extreme Right, and obviously making political capital out of anti-US rhetoric. He's also not an idiot, and realizes that the time for that is largely past, and the middle east has more to gain by not giving the USA a reason to intervene. I'm sure there is plenty of political pressure in Iran for him to stop behaving as if the Neocons still controlled the American government and peace in the middle east was not even a hope.

I think it's a hopeful statement but I think it could have gone unsaid and still be true... if the Palestinians find peace with Israel, no other Arab nation can pretend to be against Israel for the sake of the Palestinians.

Only time will tell if he really means it, but no one can deny that its certainly better than calling for the annihilation of isreal.
