Well, everyone has the opprotunity to marry right?
I just thought the quote would fit here?
Everyone has the opprotunity to change a law, but the outcome may be different...
I believe that the quote does not involve in everyone having the opportunity to change a law, but rather people having equal opportunities for things, but the outcomes may be different for each person.
Based on that, gays today (as a general whole) do not have equal opportunities as they do not have the right to marry unlike other individuals.

They have the opprotunity to do everything a straight man can, except marry who they want... they DO have the right to marry, just not who they want.
Now it's going to get back into opinion and POV arguements.... and the rightness and wrongness of homosexuality... great

Straight men can't be kicked out of housing because they are straight. Straight men can't be fired from a job for being straight. Guess what? Gay men can be kicked out of housing or fired from a job because they are gay.

It can happen to straight and gay alike. It's not likely to happen to straight people. But the rights and protections that people are fighting for cover both scenarios and should not be portrayed as only covering gay people.

Really? You got an example of a straight person being fired from a job or evicted from housing simply because they were straight? With not much work I could probably come up with a long list of gays that one or the other has happened to.

I didn't say it did happen. I said it "can" happen. There are no protections based on sexual orientation for jobs or housing. There's none protecting straight people, just like there isn't any protecting gay people. The protections being fought for will protect everyone. Not just gay people. They shouldn't be portrayed as only protecting one group or they will be "special." They shouldn't be seen as special rights. It doesn't help the cause.

Okay, I do think that is wrong, I don't think being gay is wrong, just gay marriage

That's not really accurate. Wherever sexual orientation laws are in place, they protect everybody. There are no laws that specifically protect only straight men. If the law doesn't prohibit it, a gay landlord could evict a straight guy from his apartment simple because he's decided that he doesn't like straight guys. Of course, this is highly unlikely, but I think it's important to be honest and accurate about this debate.
