Argeed!

In that case why not make sexual fantasies about other then your partner illegal too. After all, that is emotional adultery. Or watching pornography?

It is bad for relationships but there are reasons why people do this. They are just not suppose to be together.

I'm not a big fan of making laws regarding what people do in their marriages.
I think adultery is horrible. My parents divorced over that very same issue but how would it help my family if one of my parents went to jail over it?

Making adultery illegal will not make it away, people will just try harder to keep it secret.

I'll just stick to minding my own business and not trying to legislate the lives of others.

Not only would I not make it legal, I would make laws that ruin the lives of those who participate in it. If you want to cheat, don't get married in the first place.

In particular I see married men who cheat as a major problem. Unless we enforce laws against adultery, a relatively small % of men, known as the alpha male, will monopolize all women. The alpha male will have a wife and several mistresses on the side. While the beta males will have no relationships with women. We can not allow this to happen because many of these beta males will make wonderful husbands and fathers if given the chance. Our culture needs the traditional family to exist. Children are better off being raised by two loving parents.

So you want to make it legal but severely punish those?

Don't forget married women also cheat...they are catching up with the men.

No, that marriage was doomed before the guy cheated. My GF made me watch a couple episodes and all I could think was "that guy is very unhappy and this is a terrible marriage". Leglislating morality is simply ridiculous, adultery is a private matter for the couple to deal with, not the courts. In divorces, adultery DOES cost the person money and is basically treated like a crime anyways. I should know, I've seen it first-hand. A pre-nuptual agreement can be voided if one of the signers commits adultery, so in essence, it's illegal. If the act is bad enough to cause the couple to want to divorce, the victim will gain restitution...if not, they will work it out. Either way, there's no reason why the cops should be involved.

Some people are just cheaters, agreed, but I doubt many people enter into marriage with the intention of cheating.

We currently don't have or enforce laws against adulterey, and the scenario you describe doesn't exist, so it must be dismissed as fallacious.

So all we should care about is 2 adults being pleasured and not the kids? The kids are often hurt alot by these non caring cheating parents

We should be able to take the adulterers, bury them up to their necks in dirt, and then stone them like they do in Iran.

When I think about Elizabeth Edwards and what she's had to endure. I really wish that for John Edwards and his tart.
