Based on the latest diatribe from Graham trying desperately to reunite the party and the pathetic choices true conservatives have for '12, are you feeling a sense of schadenfreude, knowing you were right and conservatives would by in large reject the politics of RINO pseudo-conservatives like Graham, Palin, Romney, et al?

The 'talking heads' seem to think conservatives will vote for anyone with an 'R' behind their name when it is no longer the case.

You still get those people who do vote that way but there are a LOT of folks who will simply choose to not support the lesser evil.

If conservatives wanted the same ideology as the left they would have voted for the left....

This seems lost on the RINOs and neo-cons.

I'm still trying to figure out how a Party can be for both fiscal responsibility and massive debts to rebuild Islamic countries.

They exist in two different, mutually exclusive camps and Graham is trying desperately to force unification through peer pressure tactics.

Since you are likely familiar with the thesis of the thread, would you like to suggest an alternative title and I will request the mod to alter it?

Well I know exactly what you are getting at and as much as I would love to see a more traditional old school brand of conservatism injected into our political system, the GOP is split pretty hard right now. Of course there will be people trying to patch it but the GOP of 1996-2004 is dead.

The contemporary Republican Party is headed towards a more pure form of evangelical based politics and in doing so will never win broad support. This offers the Paul brand of conservatism an opportunity to gain presence. I only have to point to Kentucky where Rand Paul will be running for a Senate seat and here in Tennessee we have a Paul type conservative challenging the head of the state's GOP leadership.

In any event, it is going to take at minimum, two full term political cycles before the GOP could possibly be a challenge. When they regain their composure and hopefully flush the Palin/Limbaugh mindset and get back to realistic politics again, hopefully it will be a more rational party in general.
