Switch to Ask.com and you'll see a much better logo for American holidays on a regular basis and less goofy banners for obscure people and foreign holidays
Is seeing a bunch of American logos, as opposed to those 'goofy' ones, really an issue for people? REALLY??
They change their logo for every holiday under the sun, to include obscure birthdays of artists and communists, but nothing for Memorial Day, with the exception of a small yellow ribbon beneath the search bar.
There have been logo changes for Persian and Chinese New Year, Sputnik anniversary, Jackson Pollack, MLK, Earth Day, Pavarotti, World Water Day Mozart, Halloween, Yuri Gagarin, Mozart, and Braille - WTF? Nothing for Memorial Day...thanks Google.
Some people think that's a slap in the face because it's not flashy.
Oh, Heck! There's been something flashy for Dr. Suess' birthday, all sorts of other "signifcant" days. It's just out of keeping with their treatment of many other "holidays".

Your right, this one is tasteful and respectful. It shouldn't look like Dr Suess' birthday.
Google simply represents what a majority of American people do today. An (arguably) slim majority of
American people dont do anything to remember the military on Memorial Day, why should Google?
that logic fails miserably, given that they manage to commemorate the birthdays of giovanni schiaparelli, dr. seuss, and percival lowell - not to mention persian new year and the first hot air balloon flight

It is pathetic that they fail to acknowledge Memorial day with the same level of fanfare as they give other obscure holidays and occasions. Since they are a private entity, they have the rights to dictate what artwork to display on their site and we as consummers have the right to forego using their search engine or write a letter of complaint.

And thats with two wars ongoing. How sad is that?
You have a real valid point there. How many folks actually spent this holiday doing something in tribute towards those who served our country?
