to pull yourself up by your bootstraps! We will tell you to do what our grandparents and parents did; study hard, apply yourself, get into a good college and the sky is the limit. Of course we don't mean it. We think everyone should go to Harvard, Yale or Princeton, but only as a legacy.

The "work hard, study hard" is just what we say to make ourselves feel like the good "Christians" we profess to be. But when it comes down to it; when you have studied hard, made law review, gotten a Phi Beta Kappa key, graduated summa-***-laude, and succeeded in your chosen field. Then we only have one phrase to describe your "success".

Affirmative Action.

Signed The Republican Party

Rush Limbaugh, Generalissimo.

Even the socially liberal Economist magazine has suggested that Affirmative Action (TM) is a failure.

I've never read the Economist. Can you provide a link to this "suggestion".

When did the left grant that title to Limbaugh. Last Friday he gave up the title they had bestowed on him as the leader of the Republican Party. He gave his titular head of the Party designation to Colin Powell.

It is good to see him get promoted to Generalissimo. I wonder when he will be informed of the promotion by Obama.

It was in an issue a couple of years ago. I'm sure it can be easily found.

It is fiscally conservative, socially liberal. It is a rational magazine, and keeping affirmative action around is no longer rational. They were suggesting a proper alternative.

"The left" didn't grant the title. I did. Kind of like a ship's captain having the authority to conduct weddings, I have the authority to do that. Based upon his attitude, composure and the adulation he receives from the rest of the party who else could it be?

Why would he cede anything to Colin Powell? He thinks that every decision Powell makes is "race based", unlike any of his own statements which seem to dwell mostly on two subjects, "race" and "anal poisoning". No one knows what the latter is, it seems to be a "Rush original", but his fixation on that subject and his continual references to "bending over and grabbing your ankles" suggest some weird issues going on in his head.

Anyway, if you'd like a fancy title, let me know and I'll be glad to grant you one, I'm authorized to do so. The only one I can think of right off is; "mostly intelligent debater on the right". Based upon most of your posts, your general sense of humor (often lacking in others) and your willingness to engage on the issues without resorting to personal attacks.

However, the position of "golfgod's caddy" is coming open soon.

Affirmative action is wrong. Why should anything be based on the color of one's skin? How can one support any special treatment for my orthopedic surgeon's son (who is black) over my plumber's son (who is white)?

Legacy Admissions and Gentleman's C are two of the most significant forms of "affirmative action" ever devised. Protecting this privilege of wealth is just below protecting the wealth in the minds of the plutocrats.

Rush can have the Republicans. They created him so they can now deal with him.
